After breakfast, depart from Karatu and journey to the Ndutu Area in the Southern Serengeti ecosystem for an exciting game drive in one of Tanzania’s premier wildlife destinations during the Great Migration calving season.
Located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and bordering the southern plains of the Serengeti, Ndutu is renowned for its vast open grasslands, acacia woodlands, seasonal wetlands, and the beautiful Lakes Ndutu and Masek. Between December and April, large herds of wildebeest gather on the nutrient-rich plains to calve, attracting predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. This unique combination of abundant wildlife, predator action, and spectacular scenery makes Ndutu one of the most rewarding safari destinations in Tanzania.
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in the Ndutu area, one of the most rewarding wildlife destinations in the Serengeti ecosystem during the calving season. Between December and April, vast herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles gather on the nutrient-rich short-grass plains, where thousands of wildebeest calves are born. This abundance of prey attracts predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, creating exceptional opportunities to witness the natural drama of the African wilderness. The area’s diverse habitats, including open plains, acacia woodlands, seasonal marshes, and soda lakes, also support elephants, giraffes, jackals, bat-eared foxes, and a rich variety of birdlife.
After breakfast, enjoy a half-day game drive in the Ndutu area, giving you another opportunity to witness the spectacular wildlife of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. During the calving season, the plains are alive with large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, while predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas patrol the area in search of prey. The diverse habitats of Ndutu provide excellent game-viewing opportunities and beautiful scenery.
After lunch, depart for the Ngorongoro Highlands and ascend to the crater rim, enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes along the way. Arrive in the afternoon and spend the evening relaxing while preparing for the next day’s exploration of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater.
After an early breakfast, descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. Often referred to as Africa’s Eden, the crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. Its diverse habitats, including open grasslands, acacia forests, wetlands, and soda lakes, support an abundance of animals such as elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, lions, hyenas, and the endangered black rhino. The crater also offers excellent birdwatching opportunities, with flamingos and many other bird species found around its lakes and wetlands.
After your game drive and picnic lunch, ascend the crater walls and begin your journey back to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight home, marking the end of an unforgettable Tanzanian safari adventure.
